Preeta Bansal has spent more than 30 years in senior roles in government, global business, and corporate law practice. She is currently an independent corporate director, investor, MIT lecturer, and social movement builder. A constitutional lawyer and an architect of social systems and governance frameworks, she previously served as General Counsel and Senior Policy Advisor in the White House, Solicitor General of the State of New York, partner and practice chair at leading international law firm Skadden Arps, global general counsel for one of the world’s largest banks in London, a US diplomat and federal human rights commission chair, and law clerk to US Supreme Court Justice John Paul Stevens. She is a Henry Crown Fellow at the Aspen Institute and a life member of the Council on Foreign Relations. She graduated with top honors from Harvard-Radcliffe College and Harvard Law School. She received the National Organization of Women’s “Woman of Power and Influence Award” in 2006 and was named one of the “50 Most Influential Minority Lawyers in America” by the National Law Journal in 2008.

After a long career scaling the heights of external and institutional power, she has spent the last decade more deeply exploring ancient tools for harnessing the power of inner transformation for systems change, as well as studying network science and the role of emerging technologies in amplifying small shifts in consciousness. She has taught on topics related to reclaiming human wisdom in an age of artificial intelligence, exponential technology, planetary collapse and disrupted social and governance institutions.

She currently chairs and serves on the boards of numerous global, national and local organizations, universities, and nonprofits. A movement builder, she is a global anchor of ServiceSpace, an all-volunteer ecosystem reaching 2 million people worldwide that harnesses the principles of networks, ancient wisdom tools, and modern technology to help foster a globally distributed movement dedicated to systems change in our economic and social systems through shifts in individual and collective consciousness. She also is Global Chair of the United Religions Initiative, the largest grassroots interfaith peacebuilding organization in the world, and Board Chair of Civic Nebraska, a leading democracy-building organization. She has served by appointment of the President of the United States as a member and committee chair of the President’s Advisory Committee on Faith-Based and Neighborhood Partnerships, focusing on poverty and inequality in America.
